The Importance of Macronutrients

Macronutrient balance is so important in helping you to understand your health and weight related challenges and should never be underestimated.

Understanding macronutrient balance has been a huge factor in transforming my own relationship with food. In my dieting days, I was more focused on calories in/calories out and I can see now how I was missing out on so much by not fully understanding what my body needed to find it’s own natural weight.

This has little to do with counting macronutrient intake, something that has become popular in recent years in health and fitness media. Bodies have their own wisdom. Sadly the ‘programming’ many of us have received about food and body in the past 30-50 years, has overridden this fantastically intelligent system humans have.

As your mind and body begin to reconnect you will discover for yourself how much of each of the macronutrients you need, which varies accordingly. As with many things in life, it’s an imperfect and often messy trial and error system.

Each of the macronutrients provide the basis for digestion/metabolism. The quality of macronutrients is extremely important. Balancing macronutrients can be an extremely powerful way to improve digestion, moods and energy levels, immunity, mental focus, and reduce the likelihood of major health problems, cravings, overeating, and other weight related challenges, as well as balance appetite.

It’s important to note that when it comes to food, body, mind, energy and many other aspects of human health, these areas of Eating Psychology Coaching are an exploration. There is no perfect diet in the world. Humans are very unique and how much of each food group is required can depend on the day, week, level of activity, stress, life phases, even the seasons and temperature can affect the requirements of our bodies!

Something to note, adding quality macronutrients into our diet can be more supportive than removing and demonising the foods that we think aren’t serving us. When the body comes into balance, the foods that are not supportive gently drop away without effort.

I have discovered through my own experience and that of my clients, that we can powerfully increase the likelihood of success by exploring macronutrient balance.

I encourage you to study the slides below in great detail. You may notice the aspects of your current diet that work for you and your body. If you have unwanted symptoms or weight loss resistance, bringing attention to macronutrient balance could be a game changer.
